One year later....
Well, because it has been one year since I have posted here, I might as well update the mileage on the (3) scooters. June 29, 2010 we gained one 1997 Harley Ultra Classic with 86,735 miles on it. It now has 107,629 miles. The 2009, two year old yesterday, Softail has 36,395. The 2007, four year old, Sportster has 100,520. That's 37,498 miles this year. (Nov. 4. 2009 to Nov. 4, 2010)

Happy Birthday HOGs

Happy Birthday Harley, and Harley
I guess I’m a day late but yesterday, November 4, 2009, was the day my 2007 Sportster was three years old and the 2009 Softail was one year old. The mileage on the Sportster was 95,664 and the Softail was 24,647 or 120,311 between the two.

I just HAD to do the math. In three years or 1095 days. 120,311/1095=110 miles per day. 110 miles per 24 hours is 4.583 miles per hour.
THAT is why I can't sit still. How do I stay in bed at night?

Monday morning when your RETIRED!!
I woke up this morning about 8. My wife had got up at 4 and was at work at 5. I thought about her, I thought jez, she’s been up 4 hours and we put in a hard day of motorcycle riding yesterday. I did go back to sleep for a few minutes while I thought about painting the roof of the storage trailer.
It was a little after 9 and I had eaten a Hershey Bar and drank a Diet Pepsi for breakfast. (I started drinking Diet a few years ago when my Doctor told me 6 or 8 Regular Pepsis a day were not good for you.)
I had to go help my cousin put the cars back on his used car lot because we put them inside last night expecting a hailstorm. It would take longer today because my wife was at work today and wouldn’t be helping like she did when we put them away last night.
I was riding my motorcycle to the car lot when I heard my cell phone ringing. I knew it was my wife because she’s always calling while she’s got a break at 9:30. It was easier just to ride up to her workplace and talk to her than it was to stop and fight getting that phone out of my pocket. I forgot to ask her if she was tired but it’s probably just as well. I think I already know the answer and she didn’t have to think about it. (She is back on 10-hour days now.)
When I got to the car lot my cousin and Bud were looking at weather radar and it looked like another storm coming in from the west. We decided to leave the cars where they were.
Bud is a retired schoolteacher and owns some rental property. He does his own painting and repairs on the property. I asked Bud about the paint I was going to use on the storage trailer roof. I told him I was going to try to use the paint in a 5-gallon can that had been holding up the tongue of a boat trailer for the last 5 to 10 years. We talked about the stirring and other requirements. Then Bud said turn the can over for a couple of days.
BINGO!
I have turned that can over and I think I’ll let it set for 10 or 12 days to make sure.
Now it’s almost noon and my wife will come home and make me a sandwich for lunch. She only has a half-an-hour lunch break but enjoys time away from the workplace.
Don’t know yet what I’ll do this afternoon.

104,000 miles in 33 months
As of today, Aug 3, 2009, I have ridden a total of 104,00 miles on the two Harleys in 1004 days. I have averaged 103.6 miles a day or 4.3 miles an hour since Nov 4, 2006.
__________________________________2009 Harley Softail_______________________ 2007 Harley Sportster________ The 2007 Sportster purchased Nov. 4, 2006 has 85,000 miles and the 2009 Softail purchased Nov. 4, 2008 has 19,00 miles as of today. I am planning to put a total of 100,000 miles on the Sportster and then retire it. That should happen next spring. There are trips planned for the Softail too. We'll use the Softail when Carla rides with me and the Sportster when I'm by myself.

2009 July, 2nd Wed. Dinner Ride
After dinner we rode to Diller then north to the PWF road and over to Blue Springs and Wymore. We hit Barnston before heading home. The weather was PERFECT. No deer, almost 100 miles and we got home just before dark.
OK, next week is NOT the third Tuesday for the Blackhawks ride. It will be the third Wed and we might as well plan another “nobodies Wed ride”. Then the next week will be the third Tuesday or the Blackhawks ride? (Carla says she understands it)
The Salty Dog is closed the second week in August so let’s go there again next week. We can ride into Fairbury and cruise the town before coming home.
We’ll have to figure out somewhere to go the 2nd week of August. Maybe Corning? Carla and I were over there the other evening but didn’t eat. The food looked good though????(We met Tricky Dick in Corning. He’s the Bar owners brother-in-law)

Our Rides with (2) HOG chapters in (1) day.
Carla and I belong to the National, Harley Owners Group (HOG), and the Frontier Chapter in Lincoln, Nebraska and the City Cycle Sales Chapter in Junction City, Kansas. After our 8 day trip to Colo. was canceled we had little trouble finding something to do Sunday. The Lincoln chapter had a breakfast ride to North Bend, NE scheduled and the JC group were going to ride to Lincoln to visit the Frontier Harley Davidson Store. Our morning started by leaving Marysville about 6 to hookup with the Lincoln group there. After that ride and breakfast and a tour of a local Toy Collection/Museum we where able to make it back to Lincoln and meet the JC group. After a tour and a little shopping at Frontier we had a good meal at the Red Fox Steakhouse in Lincoln. It's good the weather was good on the ride home as I lead the way and accidentally missed a corner and went an extra 30/40 miles out of the way.
Overall the day was very enjoyable and memorable.
We had gone to the Hanover Fireworks the night before and we will be going to Oklahoma City Thursday to spend the 4th of July with friends. http://picasaweb.google.com/2007xl50/FrontierLincolnNEAndCityCycleSalesJunctionCityKSHOGChapters#
